You're here because you have a file that has a file extension ending in .abp. Files with the file extension .abp can only be launched by certain applications. It's possible that .abp files are data files rather than documents or media, which means they're not meant to be viewed at all.

UPC barcode files can be created using the AVS Barcode Source software, and this application from AVS (Alver Valley Software) uses files with the .abp extension as data files for referencing when required. Upon user request to access features of a barcode file associated with these ABP files, the AVS Barcode Source software locates the corresponding ABP file and retrieves the data stored in the file. These pieces of data may include the size and format used to save the barcode file. Print options entered by the barcode file creator among other relevant source data may also be stored in these ABP files. These ABP files are also called AVS Barcode Profile files and can be used with the AVS Barcode Source software to generate a snapshot of the barcode image, which can be saved in the BMP format. The AVS Barcode Source application can be installed in a user's Microsoft Windows-based system to implement support for these ABP files. This application, aside from providing users with the ability to use files with the .abp extension, also supports many barcode formats, including Code 128, EAN 13, Code 39 (extended mode) and Code 39 among others.

Launch a .abp file, or any other file on your PC, by double-clicking it. If your file associations are set up correctly, the application that's meant to open your .abp file will open it. It's possible you may need to download or purchase the correct application. It's also possible that you have the correct application on your PC, but .abp files aren't yet associated with it. In this case, when you try to open a .abp file, you can tell Windows which application is the correct one for that file. From then on, opening a  .abp file will open the correct application. Be careful not to rename the extension on .abp files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .abp. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
